Abstract:Zhouyi
inscribed on the bamboo slips of Chu collected in
Shanghai Museum witnessed the existence of the marks
of line by numbers of six (symbolizingYin lines)
and nine (symbolizingYang lines). As the same as
the marks in other transmitted
versions ofZhouyi, these marks adequately
revealed the most complicated circumstances of transformation
without any fixed rules conceived in the hexagrams,
and the same complicated circumstances of the transformations
between the hexagrams, by which the prospect for
the complicated cases of interaction and transformation
without unchangeable regulations between the two
forces (ofYin andYang) and that for the same complicated
transformations between the cases were adequately
symbolized. The lines of the hexagrams inZhouyi
on the bamboo slips of Chu had been fully symbolized.
But the symbolized lines ought to have come into
being in the Western Zhou Dynasty, when the Text
ofZhouyi had been completed. These signs
were indeed the foundation forZhouyi to possess
its unique language system conceived with highly
philosophical correlations between heaven and earth.
The special (red or black) square marks after a
hexagram and the remarks affiliated to the top line
revealed the principle of that things will develop
in the opposite direction when they become extreme,
under the circumstance of which new transformations
will begin. But the regulations for the division
of chapters are still difficult to be interpreted.
Key words:Zhouyi

in detail and further expounded the connotations
including timeliness, governing of one or more
lines in a hexagram, positions, and so on implicated
in Zhouyi, having established a fundamental

succeeded WANG's idea of the layouts in interpretingZhouyi,
he was also distinctive of his creation and
improvement to them. He raised several new ideas
in interpreting theYi, having enriched the hermeneutic
methods and enhanced the flexibility in interpreting
the remarks affiliated to the hexagrams and

this paper also set forth some different opinions

“The

of the Dao of Yi”: on ZHU Xi’s approaches to studying
the Yi
WANG

(Department

Abstract:In
annotating “Give me a few more years, so that I
may have spent a whole fifty in studying the Yi,
and I believe that after all I should be fairly
free from error” (from the Analects of Confucius),
ZHU Xi had recounted that “the sages had deeply
recognized the unfathomable profoundness of the
Dao (Way) of the Yi” and his experience that the
Yi had but was difficult to be studied. Depending
upon this, the paper examined ZHU’s idea of studying
the Yi: firstly, for the orientation of the Dao
of the Yi and the Yi for the sake of book, he thought
the Dao of Yi deeply acknowledged by the sages not
only refers to the Dao of producing and reproducing,
but also conceives the implications of that the
Yi was originally an oracle book; secondly, for
the contemplation and retrospection in studying
the Yi, he thought that, because the original factors
of the Yi were covered and it needs certain experiences
of life to understand the Dao of the Yi, the Yi
turned out to be a book from heaven difficult to
be understood. Finally, ZHU zi firmly believed that
only if one had attainted to the state of “void
and tranquility”, could he “deeply recognize the
unfathomable Dao of the Yi” as the sages do and
prove the life realm of “freedom from error”.

Abstract:The
thinking of harmoniousness between Yin and Yang
is the core in constructing the system of Yi
jing and the soul of the interpretative system
of Yi Zhuan. As an inevitable result developed from
the ancient Chinese concepts of Five element, Yin
yang , the unity of heaven and human, and so on,
the thinking was closely linked to Chinese ancient
society and history. This thinking conceived in
Zhouyi fully exhibited the unique thinking
mode of the harmoniousness of Chinese philosophy

thinking of upholding the mean and seeking harmony,
having thenceforth

Abstract:In
the Yi -ology, there was a viewing angle by the
alternation or interaction between darkness and
brightness but not by the alternation or interaction
between existence and non existence. The great thinker
at the turn of the Ming and Qin dynasties WANG Fu
zhi's studies show that this viewing angle could
admit us to more deeply understand the fundamental
issue, i.e. the correlation between the heaven and
human, in Chinese philosophy. The final answer to
this issue is not what had commonly understood as
the “unity of heaven and human”, but the succession
between the heaven and human, by which the freedom
of human and fundamental basis for the Dao
of human are established. Moreover, the viewing
prospect of the interaction between darkness and
brightness could sprout out a basic comprehension
to the issue of original goodness in Chinese classical
thoughts. Here goodness was no more than the effort
for the succession, which occurs in the field of
the Dao of human, between the heaven and human.
