On Nov. 27, 2009, the 6 th Cross-Strait Seminar on Yi-ology was opened at Taiwan. Prof. Liu Da-jun was invited to attend the academic seminar. Prof. Liu made an important speech on the issue of " Reviewing the Yi Studies in the 20 th Century in Retrospect—Simultaneously on the Significance of the Yi Studies of the Excavated Literature". Prof. Liu said reviewing the 20 th Century's Yi studies, we may find there are two most significant “great matters”: One is that scholars under influences of the Western thought engaged entirely new studies from new perspectives of research and historical vision, having achieved great breaking-through in studies concerning the history of the Yi -ology, image-numerology and meaning-patterns; the other is that some much valuable archeological literature relating to the Yi studies and manifesting the abundance of earlier Yi studies had been discovered, which urges us to re-consider some accepted conclusions and will undoubtedly play a significant role in the future Yi studies. Only if today's Yi studies turn towards the fact that the Yi studies are but the Classics studies can the age-old and incessant Yi studies attain genuine succession and progress so as to accommodate present and future issues in a better way.
