On September 21, 2008 Cross-Strait Seminar on Yi-ology was opened at Tianshui city Gansu province, which was hosted by Chinese Learned Society and Center for Zhouyi & Ancient Chinese Philosophy of Shandong University, organized by Committee of 2008 Cross-Strait Seminar on Yi-ology and co-operated by Tianshui Learned Society of Zhouyi and Tianshui Museum, which lasted for 3 days. More than 90 experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, China Renmin University, Huadong Normal University, Shandong University, Taiwan University, Chengchi University in Taiwan as well as Taiwan Learned Society of Yijing and so on participated in the seminar, aimed to discuss deeply about the issues of Fuxi’s drawing the eight trigram and Yi-ology.

The seminar received over 70 articles which involved about 10 research aspects of Yi-ology, such as Fuxi’s drawing the eight trigrams, Yi-ology of bamboo slips and silk manuscripts, interpretations of the Text and Commentaries of Zhouyi, history of Yi-ology and so on, reflecting the current development of Yi-ology.
Many public figures of Taiwan wrote messages for the seminar. Lien Chan, the honorary chairman of Taiwan's Nationalist Party, Wu Poh-hsiung Chairman of Chinese Nationalist Party and Jiang Bing-kun Chairman of Strait Exchange Foundation and so on respectively presented their calligraphic handwriting to congratulate the opening of the seminar.
Prof. Li Xue-qin the famous historian of Tsinghua University, Prof. Tang Yi-jie the celebrated expert of Beking University and Li Sheng-tang the honorary president of Tianshui Learned Society of Zhouyi sent congratulatory telegrams to the seminar.
Media reports such as People's Daily Online, Chinese Gansu Online and Tianshui On-line reported the seminar.
