On June 15th, Prof. Liu Dajun was awarded as member of Central Research Institute of Culture and History
On June 25th, conference on Prof. Liu Dajun came back with high prize and prospecting the studies of Confucian classics was held in SDU. President of SDU Xu Xianming, vice-president of SDU Fan Liming, vice-president of SDU Lou Hongxiang and other main leadership and presidents of schools of SDU attended the conference. Fan Liming hosted the conference. She introduced Prof. Liu’s contribution to the Yi studies.
President Xu expressed his congratulations to Prof. Liu. He stressed member of Central Research Institute of Culture and History is both a duty and a lofty honor, Prof. Liu’s contribution to the Yi study field set up a good model to the staff of SDU.
Prof. Liu reviewed his career in SDU and showed his wish to do credit to SDU. Prof.liu introduced the development mode of the Centre for Zhouyi and Chinese philosophy and prospected the future of Chinese Confucian classic studies.
President of the school of philosophy and social development Liu Jie read the letter from the president of international Chinese philosophy committee Yu Jiyuan. President Yu said, Being a student of Professor Liu Dajun, I am quiet pride of his being awarded as member of Central Research Institute of Culture and History. I was aware of the Shandong University’s tradition and trait as famous for its Literature and History when I was a college student. Mr. Zheng Hesheng, professor of history, my country fellow of my neighbor village, was one of the “Eight Horses” at that time. Today, the accomplishment of Professor Liu Dajun continue to prove the tradition of Shandong University. The Doctrine of the Mean says, "Now filial piety is seen in the skillful carrying out of the wishes of our forefathers, and the skillful carrying forward of their undertakings. The true filial piety is to inherit the causes of forefather’s and develop them, is to accomplish the expectation, will and dreams of the seniors, is to innovate on the base of tradition. In this sense, Professor Liu Dajun undoubtedly presents his true virtue of filial piety to the academic tradition of Shandong University (SDU). Professor Liu is the tenured Professor of Shandong University, the foregoer of Chinese philosophy discipline of Shandong University, as an alumnus of Philosophy School and Yangtze River Scholar of SDU, I hope that when President Xu Xianming and other leaders introduce SDU, you should say SDU is famous for its Literature, History and Philosophy, so as to clarify the status of philosophy.
