Ⅰ Objectives
This faculty aims at training advanced professional and practical talents with a thorough development in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics.
It is required that postgraduates have deep-rooted and basic knowledge in Chinese philosophy, systematic professional theories and have a proficient skill. After graduation the graduates can engage in research and teaching work on Chinese philosophy, Chinese religion and Chinese culture, and also can work as theory advocators and perform practical work in administrative division, press publishing house, religion institutes, etc.

Ⅲ Duration of study
Full-time postgraduates are required to normally study for three years in length at school. The postgraduates are required to fulfill the total credits at the end of the third semester and then work on preparing dissertation, which includes devising a subject, dissertation starting report, completing the dissertation and final defense. Full-time postgraduates who are extra outstanding can be allowed to graduate one year ahead.

Required credits are 34, of which are compulsory 28 credits and selective 6 credits include.

1. compulsory courses
a. 8 credits, 3 public degree courses
b. 9 credits, 4 basic degree courses
At least one cross-professional courses is included in the basic degree courses
c. 9 credits, 2 faculty degree courses
d. 2 credits, frontier-field academic lectures
Postgraduates are required to actively attend all kinds of academic lectures and discussing classes hosted by the Center for Zhouyi and Ancient Chinese Philosophy. Every five times' participation in the frontier-field academic lectures is counted one credit whereas one credit is counted if giving two individual lectures systemically.
2. Selective courses ( 6 credits, 2 courses )
To broaden postgraduates' perspective, freely selecting 1-2 non-major courses on literature and history is encouraged. The credits are recorded according to the course sessions.
3. Supplementary courses
Postgraduates with the non-major degree or same-level degree are required to select two college courses for their studies. The results are recorded in the personal files with on credits.
Ⅵ Mid-term assessments
According to the related regulation of Shandong University , mid-term assessments are carried out for postgraduates during the third week at the fourth semester. See the regulation of Shandong University for the details.
Ⅶ Scientific research and degree dissertation
The dissertation's writing time should not be less than one year. The work of devising a subject and dissertation starting report is carried out at the fourth semester. It is advisable that the postgraduate consult with his/her tutor and devise a subject for the dissertation. In the dissertation starting report, postgraduates are required to report to the related experts on the meaning in devising the subject, the current academic development in the field at home and abroad, the train of thought in writing the dissertation, etc. Only after the related experts collectively discussed the subject, rendered views and approved it, can the subject of the dissertation be determined officially. The tutor is responsible for the mid-phrase assessments. The requirements for a qualified dissertation include: obeying academic regulations, having right views and new points, consulting a large number of related data and persuasive evidences, having some theoretical and realistic meaning, and about 30,000 words.
Ⅷ Practice
This faculty attaches high attentions on training postgraduates' practical ability. It is required that the postgraduates go for corresponding teaching practice or assist tutors to do academic research or get involved into social practice. Postgraduates can select one among the three above. The time for the teaching practice should not be less than four lesson sessions. If assisting the tutors in doing researches, corresponding written materials should be provided and acknowledged by the tutor. The time for the social practice should not be less than fifteen days, with evidential paper from the related institute.
